Project Scope
As part of a large-scale renovation of the historic Muny Theater in St. Louis, MO, Phillips Co. was responsible for installing a continuous insulation wall system for two mechanical towers housing industrial fans and air ducts to cool guests at the outdoor venue.
Project Details
As part of a larger renovation project, Phillips Co. installed a continuous insulation wall system on two separate mechanical towers. These towers sat on either side of the main stage of the theater, and housed industrial fans and air ducts designed to cool the audience. Each tower was constructed of steel, concrete, concrete masonry units, and drywall.
Challenges
Due to the Muny's performance schedule in the summer, Phillips Co had to complete this project during the theater's offseason in the winter. This required following proper installation protocols during cold weather to ensure material integrity. Additionally, this overall size of the project created complications in managing the installation schedule with other contractors. Finally, the project required a substantial amount of material, which created logistical issues with getting it to the active work areas.
Solutions
While this project presented multiple challenges, Phillips Co and its team of highly qualified installers were up to the task. In order to properly install the continuous wall system during the cold months in St. Louis, Phillips Co. utilized tents and temporary heating to make sure that the stucco and other materials were installed within their proper temperature parameters.
With the large scope of the overall project, Phillips Co. maintained a steady work schedule to ensure their portion of the build met the time frame requirements for the whole project. Additionally, to relieve the congestion of moving materials, Phillips Co. pumped over (insert Number) of stucco to their work site for efficient completion of the job.
Final Product
After months of planning and on-site work, Phillips Co. successfully completed the continuous insulation wall installation on time for the Muny Theater renovation project. With the successful renovation, the Muny Theater is ready for summer productions for many years to come.
